Ascension Lutheran Children’s Center is a full service preschool and daycare licensed by the State of California. We operate year round to provide care and learning opportunities for children aged 2 to 5 years in our early childhood program.
Ascension Lutheran Children’s Center has served this church and the community for over forty years. It first opened as Ascension Lutheran Nursery School on February 2, 1970, providing activities for approximately twenty children, aged 3-5, three mornings a week. The facility expanded in 1982, temporarily relocating to Prince of Peace Preschool during construction. The church fellowship hall and an extra preschool room were added at that time. It reopened in September 1982, as a full time preschool and daycare licensed for fifty children ages two to six years old. We are now licensed for ninety children aged two through twelve.
In 1993, the name was changed to Ascension Lutheran Children’s Center to better describe the care offered.
“We discovered that education is not something which the teacher does, but that it is a natural process which develops spontaneously in the human being”. ~ Maria Montessori.
Ascension Lutheran Children’s Center operates as an educational outreach ministry of Ascension Lutheran Church. We seek to partner with parents and family to contribute to the healthy formation of the whole child: academically, physically, socially, and spiritually.
This goal is mandated to us in Proverbs 22:6,“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”
This scripture has become our guiding directive in every part of our school’s existence.
We follow Jesus’ request to “suffer not the little children to come unto me,” and welcome all children to the center without regard to race, religion, or ethnic origin. God treasures and loves all children, as He is their Creator. We welcome His children with open arms.
