Changing Lives Takes a Community!
A Loving Community Pantry is a food distribution program hosted by Ascension Lutheran Church in Allied Gardens with the support of The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. Previously, this took the form of a monthly event, but in the Spring of 2020, when we were just beginning to see the potential devastation from COVID19, the team at Ascension decided to expand from a monthly to a weekly distribution.
After a bit of planning and securing additional food resources, the weekly distribution officially launched in July 2020. We have many repeat customers who receive groceries every single week. Our volunteer team is constantly evolving. And we were recently honored by the San Diego Food Bank as EFAP Agency of the Month and for Exemplary Communications & Reporting.
Our pantry hours are:
Our guests may walk up or drive through our parking lot to receive food (entrance on 51st Street). Additionally, we have an outdoor curbside/micro food pantry located on 51st Street. This food pantry is available 24/7. Our community partners help stock this food pantry.

- Every First Friday of the month, 8:30 am to 10:30 am (next door at the Church of Latter-Day Saints parking lot)
- Every Tuesday, 8:30 am to 10:30 am
- Every Saturday, 8:30 am to 10:30 am
