One of these forms is proof of a recent examination by a physician and a California School Immunization Record. Parents need to sign an admission agreement and will be given a parent handbook outlining school policies.
ENROLLMENT
Please visit the school with your child prior to enrollment. You will be given a tour of our facility and meet the Director and your child's teacher to determine if the school can meet the needs of your family and child.
STAFF
Our experienced, qualified staff members are warm, caring professionals who exceed the educational requirements of the State Licensing Department and have made the field of Child Development their career. They are chosen for the quality of their educational backgrounds, their professionalism and previous work experience.
PARENT PARTICIPATION
We believe that a child's early education experience is enhanced by parent participation. Also let us know of any talents or time you have available to help with school activities and enrichment.
PHILOSOPHY
Our goal is to provide a comfortable, positive environment, where children can learn and grow, through warm supportive interaction by a caring and professional staff.
We feel children learn best:
- When activities are developmentally (age) appropriate.
- When pro-social skills are encouraged and modeled.
- Where intellectual growth is achieved through child-centered, hands on, concrete experiences that involve a balance between self-exploration, play, and teacher directed activities.
- Where learning experiences are based on individual assessment and support the growth of the whole child.
- Where positive self-esteem is the ultimate goal for each child.
Christian education at Ascension Lutheran Children's Center is also developmentally appropriate. Through simple stories and songs we present how much God loves us, and how we can show our love of God and of others. Our spiritual goals stress the "Golden Rule", sharing, moral development and manners. The children say grace before eating and participate in chapel once a week with Pastor Richard Zuber.
We feel that a child's development is enhanced in partnership with school, home and community. Our school exists as a center for child, family and community advocacy.
